Achillea millefolium ‘Sonoma Coast’, Sonoma Coast Yarrow

Yarrow is an all-star plant choice among California native gardeners, including beginners. It is durable and easy to grow in a wide range of soil types and has low moisture requirements. It reseeds and spreads quickly, making it a good groundcover plant for open spaces and meadows. Semi-evergreen. Most die back in winter, or can be cut back, but new growth pushes up in early spring or when winter rains start.

Sonoma Coast variety differs from the straight species in that it is under a foot high when in bloom and has a dense array of white flowers. It tolerates almost any soil type. It prefers sun in coastal sites, and part shade in inland sites.
