Epilobium canum ‘Summer Snow’, White-flowered California Fuchsia

Out of stock

While California fuchsias are generally known for their showy red flowers, this unusual variety offers surprising white blossoms on low growing gray-green foliage up to 10 inches tall and wide. Spreading by underground rhizomes, this mat forming perennial grows in full sun to light shade with occasional to little summer water once established. Perfect in naturalistic plantings, on slopes among boulders, dry creek beds, rock walls or under oaks. California fuchsias bloom heavily from late summer into fall when other perennials have stopped blooming. Their tubular flowers are hummingbird favorites. When plants have set seed in fall, cut the stems to 6 inches high, which will produce a flush of new growth with the winter rains. Deer resistant.
