Helenium bigelovii, Bigelow’s Sneezeweed

A perennial native of meadows and marshes that bears cheerful, bright yellow flowers. The daisy-like blooms are held above the clump of smooth green leaves on 2–3 ft. stems. Despite the common name this plant does not cause allergies. Requires regular water. With full sun and moderate moisture, it blooms summer into fall. Tolerant of most soils. Deer resistant. Attracts a wide variety of insects, including bees and butterflies. An important nectar source for butterflies.
