This selection has flowers that are in the blue/lavender/purple range, but it will hybridize if you have more than one variety.

Douglas Iris is a perennial evergreen herb that grows best with part shade, especially away from the immediate coast. Plants get about 12–18″ tall and can form a large clump over time. Clumps can be divided in winter.

There are many places in the garden where this essential habitat plant will thrive. Douglas Iris prefers richer soils and is fast growing near the coast. If not planted next to a creek or in a naturally wet area, it likes summer water every 2-4 weeks. It is more drought tolerant near the coast where it benefits from cooler temperatures and fog. Can be used under oak trees that get no summer water.
