Juncus effusus, Soft Rush

Out of stock

Soft rush is a member of the Juncaceae (Rush) family found growing in wet areas, as indicated by the common name. It is very widespread and native to most continents. It grows in large clumps about 2–5 ft. tall and can be planted at the edge of a pond or in up to 6″ of standing water. It will spread if there is moist soil but also works in regular garden soil because it tolerates bouts of dryness. It is commonly found growing in humus-rich areas such as marshes, ditches, fens, and beaver dams. It can be useful around ornamental ponds and bioswales. Best in full to part sun.
