A common annual of California, Baby Blue Eyes is a popular garden plant. It is a spring-blooming wildflower that gets its name from the bright blue flowers with white centers, which show up in abundance in the spring after a wet winter. It prefers cooler weather so get seed in the ground while it’s still damp. Give it full sun or part shade in moist soil. Gets about 6 inches high.
It’s easy to grow from seed along with other annuals in a wildflower meadow or in openings between trees and shrubs. It looks spectacular when planted in drifts, or when massed with other annual wildflowers such as tidytips, clarkias, lupines, and California poppies. An ideal plant for rock gardens and border edging.
