A low spreading perennial groundcover which thrives in the shady, acidic conditions of Douglas fir and redwood forests. The cultivar ‘Klamath Ruby’ offers dark green clover-like foliage with beautiful burgundy backed leaves. In spring, it produces white flowers with pale pink veining on the petals. A lovely groundcover for a shady garden with some summer water, though it is drought tolerant in coastal zones once established. Stays under a foot tall but spreads to 2–3 ft wide. Tolerates wet conditions, deer, drought and mowing. A good woodland, rock garden & groundcover plant. Attracts butterflies.
