A pollinator powerhouse, this sage attracts hummingbirds, bees and butterflies with its vibrant blossoms. Selected and introduced by Las Pilitas Nursery, and thought to be a hybrid between Salvia clevelandii and Salvia pachyphylla, this gorgeous salvia has widely spaced whorls of eye-catching red-violet with tubular, brilliant blue flowers. Flowers are abundant in spring and late fall.
Similar to Salvia clevelandii in growth, it has gray-green, sweetly fragrant foliage, averages 3 to 5 feet in size and mounds as it grows. The decorative, architectural seed heads provide food for songbirds. Plant in full sun with good drainage and occasional water. It grows best in sandy, coarse-grained or other fast draining soil. Drought and deer tolerant.
