This California native salvia hybrid has proven to be durable and disease resistant. Hummingbirds and pollinators will be overjoyed come spring through early summer over the profusion of 6” periwinkle blue spikes of purple blooms on this ground covering sage. Foliage stays about a foot high but spreads 4-6 feet wide. The fragrant silvery grey foliage is great as a weed barrier as it forms a dense mat. It’s drought tolerant and loves to mingle with other summer dry plants like ceanothus, manzanita, mimulus, and monardella. Grows best in sandy, coarse-grained or other fast draining soil. Prefers sun in coastal sites, and part shade is necessary in hot inland locations.
Technically considered a shrub but is likely to be sold with the perennials.
